Charles H. WoodburyThe "Yankee with a Paintbrush" was not brought up to paint! Instead, he had been educated at MIT in Boston, Massachusetts as an engineer. Yet, Mr. Woodbury's innate sense of drawing and ability to paint was always present. When Woodbury was a junior in high school, he was awarded a prize from the Boston Art Club. It was presented to him by no other than a seventy-five year old man named Winslow Homer. Because of his many talents, virtually every museum in the United States has acquired his work. His artwork can be found in Paris and other capitals of Europe and in South America. Woodbury's love for Maine led him to teach art during the summers in Ogunquit and every winter in Boston until his death in 1940. Today we are very proud to have Mr. Charles H. Woodbury's works with us at the Cuckle-Button Farm Gallery. We hope you enjoy his work as well as the many people in the world have done. |
